We are a unique cabinet painting company in the Iowa City area in that we have a specialized shop, specifically for painting cabinets. The prepping of cabinets is the most important step in making sure they last and hold up to the wear and tear of daily life. That is why we take your cabinets to our shop where we can paint them in a controlled environment and allow them to cure in between each round of primer and paint. We will not rush the painting of cabinets as they need time to set up or they can get damaged in transfer and hanging. If there is one job we recommend that clients don’t try themselves, it is cabinet painting. It is a difficult process and takes years of experience to get a nice clean finish on cabinets. CABINET PAINTING SERVICES

DROP OFF/PICK UP CABINET PAINTING
Of all the painting projects we do, we strongly suggest that our customers leave the cabinet painting up to professionals, but we also understand there are sometimes limited budgets and do-it-yourselfers that are up for the task. For this reason we have recently started offering a drop off/pick up service for cabinet refinishing and painting for those who like to paint their own projects. Over the years we have found that many of our clients attempt to paint their cabinets themselves, but don’t have the required skills to make the cabinets look finished. If you like to do your own painting, but want your cabinets to be professionally done, you can drop them off at our shop or we will come pick them up from your house. We will professionally finish the cabinet doors and drawer fronts and then drop them back off to you. You will be responsible for your cabinet bases and reattaching the newly painted cabinets. This process allows for us to offer more affordable pricing and still get you the kitchen you have always wanted.

A DETAILED LOOK AT OUR PROCESS

01.

DISASSEMBLING

We start the cabinet process by carefully disassembling your cabinets. We are careful to not damage the cabinets in removal and we label all pieces to make sure we know how to put them back on. We keep all hardware organized in bags to ensure nothing is misplaced.

02.

CLEANING

Next we clean and degloss cabinets with abrasive surfing pad and chemical deglosser. Cleaning and deglossing allows for a better surface for the paint to adhere to.

03.

PREPPING

Next we prep the entire kitchen or bathroom to protect all your countertops, flooring and other areas of the house. We can spray or brush the bases dependent on the customers preference.

04.

PAINTING BASES

Once everything is protected we will paint the base of your cabinets. We will start with a bonding primer and then apply the finish coats.

05.

PAINTING CABINETS/DRAWERS

All Cabinet drawers and fronts will be taken off site to our shop to be prepped and painted. We will clean, degloss and sand them before starting to paint. When necessary we will also caulk any seams that need attention. Then the bonding primer will be applied, followed by a minimum of 3 top coats. Having them at our shop allows for proper dry time and sanding in between each coat of paint.

06.

REASSEMBLY & CLEAN UP

Once the cabinets have had enough time to cure, we will carefully transport them back to your home and reassemble them. Once everything is back in place, we will clean the kitchen or bathroom and leave you to enjoy your new cabinets!

Primetime Painting offers painting services in all of the following areas; Painters in Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty, Hills, Tiffin, Riverside, West Liberty, Wellman, Kalona, Solon, West Branch, Tipton, Cedar Rapids and more.. Our area of service and estimates do depend on our work load. We are based out of Iowa City, so if we are full for the season we will not offer services in outlying areas.
